Fayette Seniors Celebrate Halloween

For well over a century, Fayette Area Residents have celebrated the Halloween Season with parades, games and simply going "Trick or Treating".  In keeping with the spirit of the season, Fayette's nutrition site manager, Maryann Reimund challenged local seniors to come in costume for this year's celebration.  The "challenge" was accepted and center supporters came decked out for some fun!

Riemund has also expanded programming by scheduling tours to Cork's Winery just east of town and Stella Leona in Pettisville and has many new activities on the drawing board.

The Fayette Arts Council, in an effort to promote area awareness of Fulton County's Senior Nutrition Site at the Opera House, initiated the Seasons' Rambles, Tour and Lunch Series. This independent, self-funded program is designed to compliment the objectives of the Senior Nutrition Site.  To date, participants of the Seasons' Rambles have visited Will Carlton's Poor House in Hillsdale, Michigan, the Huber Opera House in Hicksville, Ohio, the historic community of Hudson, Michigan, and the Irish Hills Memorial in Cambridge, Michigan. In addition, the Seasons' Luncheons have welcomed speakers from the Fulton County Historical Society, the Bean Creek Valley History Center and educators from area colleges and universities.

Opera House Director Tom Spiess notes that the local nutrition site has a core of supporters who have come to call the Fayette Opera House, HOME. When it became apparent that the heating and cooling systems at the century-old facility were not providing adequate comfort levels, members of the Fayette community Fine Arts Council and the Opera House Association spearheaded a drive to replace the failing units.  The new system was installed in July and the fundraising drive to support that effort is nearing its goal.

The Fayette Community Fine Arts Council, parent organization of the Opera House, is one a a few remaining non profit organizations in Fulton County that provides broad based community service and programs without tax support.
